Baby signs

Long before they can talk, babies have plenty to say. Simple signs, always used together with words, help your little one share what they need, see and feel.

A bridge to words

Babies understand much more than they can say. With a handful of everyday signs (milk, more, sleep, all done) your child can tell you what they need, long before the first words arrive.

Signs never replace speech: we always sign and speak at the same time. In a playful way, with songs, rhymes and little stories, you learn the signs and how to bring them into your daily life.

What it brings

  • Less frustration, for your baby and for you
  • Understanding your baby’s needs earlier
  • Rich, playful interaction that supports language
  • A strong connection: your baby feels heard
  • Easy to share with partners, grandparents and childcare

Frequently asked questions

Will signing delay my baby’s speech?

No. Signs are always combined with spoken words. They are a bridge to speech, not a replacement.

Is my baby too young?

Parents can start signing from birth. Most babies begin to sign back from around 8 to 12 months.

We speak two or three languages at home. Is that a problem?

Not at all. The same sign works in every language, which many multilingual families find really helpful.

Still have a question?
